KOENAtec announces collaboration with The Next-Generation Cities Institute at Concordia University in Montreal.

„Next-generation cities are inclusive, connected, collaborative, ecological, healthy and mobile“ is the vision of The Next-Generation Cities Institute on its website. The international research initiative brings together researchers and organisations from engineering, economics, natural sciences, arts, humanities and social sciences to address the challenges facing modern cities.

With this cooperation, the Stuttgart-based IoT and AI startup KOENAtec is participating in a project launched by Concordia University in Montreal that aims to produce a comprehensive and universal approach to sustainable urban development. The Next-Generation Cities Institute includes the Chair for Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Cities and Communities. The objective is to address some of society’s greatest challenges, these include:

• Sustainability Transformation
• Digitalisation, cybersecurity and AI
• CO2-free cities and buildings

KOENAtec supports the Institute in the intelligent networking and efficiency-enhancing control of decentralised energy consumers. In a first step, KOENAtec is providing a smart coffee machine that meets the digital and sustainable demands of a city of the future. The coffee machine not only independently optimises its own energy consumption, but also enables smart grid applications that contribute to balancing the power grid and thus to the expansion of renewable energies.
